US Army WWII 37MM M16 Brass Cartridge Case 1943 Pair As Used By Stuart Tanks Found In Normandy

This is a WW2, 1943 dated unfired American 37mm M16 (37 x 222R), HE (High Explosive) base fused Tank/ Anti-Tank Gun round with its complete brass base fuse. The brass cartridge is head stamped 37MMM16 LOT 3B 14 1943. This pair are both in very good condition all round with little to no wear or damage. Both of these were found on our recent visit to Normandy. These came from a town not far from "Dead Mans Corner".

INERT DEACTIVATED. The Americans developed the 37mm M3 gun during the late 1930s. The gun was finally approved an anti-tank gun in 1940 as the 37mm M1 anti-tank gun for use by the infantry. The gun was later used to arm the M5A1 Stuart as its main gun, the M3 Lee/Grant tank as a secondary armament and in the M8 greyhound 6 wheeled light armoured car.
